"There is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the cause"
What is Gonstead Chiropractic?
The gold standard of Chiropractic care
The Gonstead technique is considered the Gold standard of Chiropractic, it is arguably the most advanced and precise method of spinal analysis and correction.

Dr Clarence S. Gonstead
Chiropractor who founded The Gonstead method.
The Gonstead system uses 5 steps or criteria to detect the presence of Vertebral Subluxation. Medically the term subluxation means 'partial dislocation'. In Chiropractic it is used to describe a spinal bone out of alignment, causing pressure on a nerve which is disrupting the physiological balance of the body. Vertebral subluxations are detrimental to our health and can cause a vast array of symptoms.
The 5 steps were developed by Dr Clarence S. Gonstead, a Chiropractor from Wisconsin, USA. After 55 years in practice and over 4 million Chiropractic adjustments he became famous for healing people with all kinds of health problems using his method. His practice was famous for having a hotel and runway to accommodate patients that travelled from afar. The average patient travelled from 90 miles away to see him.

The 5 Steps are:
- Observation
- Motion palpation
- Static palpation
- Thermography (nerve heat measurement)
- X-ray
The Gonstead Chiropractor uses these steps to identify exactly where the spine is misaligned and to decide on how it needs to be adjusted.
The Gonstead method is renowned for its precise adjustments to the spine, pelvis and extremities and for its thorough consideration of a patients symptoms, medical history and lifestyle in developing personalised care plans.
